I have posted before about being raised in a small town and moving a couple years ago to a much larger town, bordering on "city". Mostly life has been pleasant, and I certainly enjoy the conveniences of lots of shops and restaurants being within walking distance. A few weeks ago, we got our first snow of the year. Not much, just a couple inches. As I was going out my back door in the morning after the snow to walk down the (shoveled)path in my backyard to my carport, I noticed something odd - large footprints in the snow leading away from my backdoor. My house is always locked, as is my car. Someone had clearly walked up the shoveled path in my back yard, gone to my back door, and then proceeded to walk around the side of my house. Nothing was missing, nothing was broken, but someone was clearly on my property. However, it was morning, and in efforts to not scare my child, I ignored it and we got in my car and drove to daycare. Fast-forward a few days later, I was speaking to my cop friend and I mentioned this to him. He told me, rather firmly, that if I ever see that again to call the police. No one should be at my back door. And, he told me that because I park outside and because we are in a densely populated area, people are most likely trying to open my car to steal stuff every night.
Every. Night. I did my research on how to prevent this, and the most common advice I read on several websites was a security camera and a motion light. Lucky for me, I work for Versonel, and the NightWatcher line of security lights does just that. Motion Detecting, Robotic Lights. Potential thieves, you have been warned.
